New Patterns

I put up a buttload of new patterns today. I'm exhausted from all of the uploading, back and forth, click this, click that...lol But, I'm so excited that all of my American Girl patterns are available to everyone now.

I have also made a 'quickie' American Girl poncho, but I haven't had the chance to photograph it yet, so I will post that pattern soon.

Blessings on you all & Happy Crocheting!

I. Want. It.

Tony and I are on sort of a honeymooner's weekend away. It is our 17th wedding anniversary next weekend and it is Tony's 20th High School Reunion this weekend. So we just combined the two and are staying at a lovely Super 8 (I know, that's usually an oxymoron, but I'll tell you more in a minute) in Waukesha for the weekend. Well, we wanted to get out of the room and do some toodling. After all, we are in our old stomping grounds.

We cruised down Hwy 100. Used to do that almost every Friday night in high school. Except it was at night, we were teenagers AND it wasn't in a mini-van. LOL. It was the coolest thing to grab a couple of girlfriends....especially one with access to a car....and go cruise Hwy 100 in hopes of meeting someone. Oh. Please. We just drove around staring into other people's cars!! LOL. I wonder if they still do that nowadays.

Then we went to Mayfair Mall. WOW has that place changed. I love that mall! Anyway, all of that to say that there is an Apple store in the Mayfair Mall. No lie, it was THE busiest store in the mall. There had to be 10-15 reps in the store and gobs of people. And we're not talking a big store. Maybe the size of an Aeropostale? We looked at it with much trepidation but then decided to brave the crowd and go get some questions answered. At first we walked in and looked at the iMac books (laptops). Of course, I didn't know the first thing about what all of the numbers and letters mean in reference to the size of Ram and Gigabytes and all that hoo-hoo. I have to have somebody say...yep, that's a good computer with lots and lots of memory (cuz I will fill it)...and I'm good to go! lol. Anyway, with that many people and not understanding what anything was...I was becoming discouraged FAST. So I mustered up my very outgoing personality and walked over to the nearest non-busy rep. Happened to be a super sweet college kid named Jason. He stood there and told us all about the iMac. Showed us how it operated. Walked us through every super cool function. Needless to say...I. fell. in. love.

Every future techy-fantasy is going to have an iMac computer in it. Sitting on my desk. Smiling at me. :)

*sigh*

Ok, further information on the lovely Super 8. I have never been a 'fan' of things like expedia.com or travelocity.com, etc. I thought they were nothing but a joke. Well, I have been proven wrong. So very, very wrong. I went to hotels.com to "see" what I could find for hotels in Waukesha for this weekend. Well, I found rooms at several hotels that looked ok. Some were cheaper, but had bad reviews on the hotel. This one was a lower price end, but still decent hotel. So, I went ahead and booked. Only down fall is that you have to pay for it right then when you book it and you don't get your money back if you change your mind. So, in essence, don't change your mind. Be very sure of what you want before you say yes! lol. Anyway, we had no clue what we were going to have for a room. Just hoping it was clean and not run down too much. (We don't seem to have alot of success with Super 8's and the one in our home town?...wouldn't stay there....) Anyway, back to the hotel. When we got here it was an extremely easy check-in with friendly staff and then we walked into a huge, clean, king sized suite with a separated bathroom, wet bar w/fridge, micro, etc. I never gave the cost of the room a thought until Tony came out of the bathroom and said "Biz, you gotta come see this!" Posted on the back of the door were the rates for the room. This room goes for $199/night. I paid $124 for a two nights stay on www.hotels.com . The only thing I had to provide was a cc at check in for incidentals. I know there won't be any incidentals, so no big deal. Plus, if you watch what you are doing...there is something called "welcome rewards". Not every hotel provides them. What they do is after 10 stays, you earn a free night. Which is pretty handy for us, cuz we travel quite a bit. :)

K. Gotta go shower and get ready for the reunion tonight.
Talk later!

I am not bilingual, but I like to make dishcloths!!

Hi.

Just a short note today as I still am having photo accessibility issues. I have been knitting dishcloths like crazy. I will point you towards the patterns momentarily. First, I need to address one small issue.

I have had many visitors of late that speak Chinese (or possibly Japanese?). I find this both fascinating and wonderful. I am so excited that there are people from all over the world visiting my blog. However, when you are posting comments...I cannot read them. Most times they don't even show up in your language. They are just some gobblety-gook of symbols because my computer can't intepret them. My request is this: Please write all comments in English, as that is the only language I speak. Thanks so much. I would love to read all the comments posted and reply accordingly. I hope this did not come across offensive.

Ok, now on to some pattern sharing. I went onto Ravelry recently and looked up dishcloths. Lordy, there's a ton of them on there. So I picked out the ones that I thought would be the most interesting to make. My usual habit is to copy them off, throw them in a pile and say "I'll make those someday". Well, this time, I decided that would be a waste of paper if I just let them sit there and never do anything with them. So I made myself make them. I am currently working my way through the pile.

Here are the ones I've made so far: (Mind, you'll have to be a ravelry member to view some of these patterns, I've put an asterisk* next to those.)
Circle Cloth *from Hakucho Knits
Harmonic Mosaic Cloth from Ribbed for Your Pleasure
Eloomanator's Diagonal Knit Dishcloth from Eloomanator
Elvish Leaves Dishcloth from Kelley's Yarns
Chinese Waves Dishcloth from Maggie's Rags
Waffle Knit Dishcloth from Homespun Living

I still have to work on:
Linoleum Dishcloth from Mason-Dixon Knitting
Double Bump Dishcloth* from Missy Angus
The Santa Cloth from KrisKnits
A Christmas Dishcloth Story from KrisKnits
Scrubbie Dots* from Doni Speigle

Some non-dishcloth thoughts:
Diagonal Mock Cable Mug Cozy
I-Phone Case
Hemlock Ring Doily Throw

As soon as I have a non-challenged computer/camera/printer set up I will post pictures of the completed items. Happy pattern browsing!

Just Sayin....

Hi all,

Had to share a new blog with you. It's my son's new blog. He writes parodies about popular movies and book series. For instance, Harry Potter is Perry Flopper, Twilight is Midnight and Lord of the Rings is Lord of the Cheesecurds. He is just hilarious. I am super proud of him. He's bright minded and quick witted. So I hope you enjoy him as much as I do.

Tah for now.
Gonna go keep having a vacation.

The Internet is Bliss: A review of foodie blogs

I truly cannot wait until I have the internet at home again.

I have been reading my fave foodie blogs today (and getting completely hungry in response). And oh my word, this recipe looks absolutely to die for. I love her blog!

I'm also quite taken with this blog. Wonderful! I've made the no-knead bread, (which is virtually everywhere on the internet now, but I saw it here first) and tweaked it over and over adding garlic, cheese, rosemary, sun dried tomatoes, basil, etc. and my family adores it. Lovely, crusty, chewy thing.

I am dying to create some of the recipes from this blog. He has such an interesting viewpoint of living a vegan lifestyle and he certainly goes out of his way to make it a fun way of living. Especially with kids of his own to feed. This particular one looks completely luscious to me. Total comfort food.

This blog is outstanding for innovative ideas. She has a regular foodie blog, as well, but I just love her vegan versions. Especially since I've begun to can and this recipe looks like a must-do. Can hardly wait till next summer when the dandelions come out full bloom again. I'll be ready this time!

I'm telling you, when I have the internet again...I'm going to have a computer dedicated to my kitchen** for the purpose of cooking delightful, flavorful, exotic dishes! My family will love them whether they want to or not!

**I'm seriously considering cooking my way through a blog.....her food is just.....words can't describe.....I'm actually speechless....
